Happy New Years From Bonsai
It’s that time of year again. All across the country resolutions will made, champagne toasts celebrated, and local health clubs will soon become uncomfortably crowded only to be predictably near-empty again in February. Here at Bonsai, we cherish the closing of a new year and beginning of a new one. It gives us an opportunity for reflection, planning, and of course, celebration. We'll share our three steps for how we end each year and begin the next most effectively.
Reflection
As a company, we have a reflection ritual that helps us put some closure on last year and start the next 12 months with momentum.
The first thing we do is look at all the things we can be grateful for. We ask ourselves what were our wins from last year can we celebrate? What were our 2015 achievements, both big and small? Reflecting on these aspects build a sense of energy, confidence & propulsion to send us into the new year.
The next part of our process is looking at what our biggest lessons were from the past 12 months. We'll often list the 3-5 of the best educational experiences in business, our industry and our lives that we learned in the last year.
We’ve found that being aware of the top values in our life and business are a crucial part of success. For Bonsai, they provide us with a compass to keep our company congruent while navigating the wild, exciting sea of the online business world. Here are ours:

Intentions
Instead of choosing arbitrary resolutions for the next 12 months, we use our values to guide us in setting intentions for how we’ll be doing business for the following year. We then create monthly, weekly, and even small daily actions that we can do to improve and work towards fulfilling those intentions each day.
Celebrate
After we've done our reflection and planning, we enjoy going out with a bang. We are enjoying celebrating the previous year's successes and lessons learned while building excitement for new things to come in 2016.
