Bonsai hosts Umbraco training
Umbraco v5 was released about a little over month ago and we at Bonsai wanted to get hands-on learning on its new features and functionality. Unfortunately, there weren't any training sessions in the immediate area. We talked with Umbraco HQ and they mentioned that we can host a training session, so that's what we did! We had it at a Pyramid Brewery, with about 15 attendees from a variety of companies.
It was a total blast! We got to work with the MVC and Razor framework of v5. Sadly with all the learning that we've done in XSLT, v5 will no longer support it :( No more umbDebugShowTrace, no more "Edit in Canvas" and some other nice-haves that won't be available anymore because of the XSLT omission that I can't remember at the moment...
We made our own little Facebook with status updates, comments, posting images, and registration. At the end of the day, we even went and got a couple of brewskis to help unwind. Thanks to Paul at Umbraco for teaching and for all the companies that made it: Proworks, University of Southern Indiana, MindFly, Red Engine, Ikels, Amplus and the others that made it.
